Sean M. Coffey is a Captain in the U.S. Army, where he is a Cyber Warfare officer focusing in Cyberspace and Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA). He is currently assigned to the Army Cyber Institute (ACI) at the United States Military Academy (USMA), West Point. At USMA, CPT Coffey serves as a Machine Learning Engineer as part of the Data & Decision Sciences team within the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) department. CPT Coffey works to forward the understanding of operations research, data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, statistics, scientific computing, applied mathematics, and cognitive science in order to support the ongoing initiatives by the US Army, and other branches of the Department of Defense, to modernize operational and decision-making processes. CPT Coffey works as part of that ACI to support their collaborators, stakeholder and projects sponsors, to ensure decision makers at the highest levels have accurate and state of the art information to support their pursuit of force modernization. CPT Coffey was previously the Electronic Warfare officer for the US Army's XVIII Airborne Corps, the Sky Dragons, where he serves as the deployed Lead Cyber Planner for Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR). Prior to his time as a Cyber Warfare Officer, CPT Coffey served as an Infantry Officer, led at the Platoon and Company levels, and earned the Expert Infantryman Badge (EIB) while serving at 10th Mountain Division, stationed at Fort Drum, New York.
