Lieutenant Colonel Ross is a Chief Research Scientist for the Army Cyber Institute. In this role, he serves primarily as the institute’s information warfare team lead. He is also an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the United States Military Academy. Lt. Col. Ross’ teaching experiences are in core level information technology courses. He also taught and course directed the Academy’s Information Warfare Course in 2009. Lt. Col. Ross’ dissertation research expands knowledge about the processes special operations teams use during the application of “soft power” during Village Stability Operations.

In a previous assignment at the U.S. Military Academy, Lt. Col. Ross conducted network security, open source intelligence, information warfare, and robotics research.

Prior to branching Cyberwarfare, all of Lt. Col. Ross’ operational experiences were in the artillery. He served two combat tours in Iraq (03-04 & 10-11) and one operational tour in Kosovo (2000).
